Structure
For many the organizational structure of the Scottish Rite is confusing due to the differences seen between it and the symbolic lodge. The core of the reason is one of authority. In the Grand Lodge System practiced in most of the world you will see that authority flows from the bottom or individual Symbolic Lodges up to the Grand Lodge. If all the lodges across the jurisdiction fail a Grand Lodge ceases to exist.
The Scottish Rite system works oppositely and authority flows from the top down to the individual bodies. All the subordinate bodies across the jurisdiction may fail but the Supreme Council remains. Knowing this fact is the key to understanding the Scottish Rite hierarchy and the Orient Concept.
Master Craftsman Program
The Scottish Rite Master Craftsman (SRMC) program is like a fascinating journey through Masonic history and teachings, guided by the wise folks at the House of the Temple in Washington, D.C. In the first part, Program I, you'll uncover the origins of Blue Lodge Masonry and its symbolic secrets using books by Albert Pike and Arturo de Hoyos. Program II delves into Scottish Rite history and rituals, while Program III, using Albert Pike's Morals & Dogma, helps you explore these teachings at a deeper level, with quizzes to test your understanding. As you complete each course, you'll earn medals or pins as badges of your knowledge and dedication.
